Facebook and Myspace IM

Will has been busy beavering away getting new networks ready for heysan. We have a working implementation of Facebook IM and a still in dev version of Myspace IM. Unfortunately it looks as though myspace will be out first; those of you know that know me know that I’m frustrated when work that is ready to go live can’t go live/doesn’t go live. Facebook are currently stalling on removing a whitelist of accepted accounts which work over their jabber interconnect. We’re on their asses to find out why!

In the mean time Will is going to get the myspace transport up and running, the adium port of myspace IM isn’t great so it means we need a windows PC to test/debug/packet dump’n'analyze on – which slows things down some.

In the mean time you can head over to m.heysan.com and pre-register your interest – when these networks are good to go we’ll send you an email! We’re nice like that!

Yep, we went and got a blog set up. We took a while about it primarily because we’ve been crazy busy working on our product. Overall things have gone really, really well.

We’re at now 12 people strong, run on more than one server (yep, our one server reached its capacity!!) and are deep into a rewrite of a new backend which will solve some of the peak time issue’s we’ve been having. We’ve also been releasing features one after another in quick succession, which have really engaged our users and it is quite inspiring to see our metrics trending to the upper right!

From a tech point of view we’re doing some cool things too, expect posts about our new client (erlang and java working in harmony via jinterface) and our admob analytics proxy (rabbitmq, php, java), which has helped reduce our page load times immensely, imminently.
